There are two "Gifted Hands" dvd's, the cheap one is a documentary, the expensive one is the movie. There's no mention of that in the description of either dvd, so I assumed the expensove one just had more outtakes, interviews, etc. and ordered the cheap one, then I had to order the other to see the movie, and for a TV movie, it was overpriced, so I feel I paid about 3 times the price of a regular movie just to watch it. It left me with a feeling of being ripped off twice.

Gifted Hands is an incredible story of what faith and love can accomplish against devastating odds against it happening.There was every reason for a mother, with no formal education to speak of,to just give up on a son with serious delinquency and identity problems.But,she just didn't try to eke out a modest correction in her son; she told him that he could dream and be anything he dreamed. From the detroit ghettos to chief pediatric neurosurgeon at John Hopkins Hospital! If this isn't true Black history then there just isn't any! In a current black america where to many black males do not have father role models,this is one instance where one was not needed!

The DVD of Ben Carlson I purchased from Amazon shows what an overcoming spirit nurtured by a loving but determined mother can accomplish. The video documents some of the extraordinary skills performed by the gifted hands of Ben Carlson who is a pediatric surgeon at John's Hopkins Hospital. I highly recommend this inspirational video.

I saw this movie on tv and was very glad to find it through Amazon. This is the inspiring life story of Dr.Ben Carson. Cuba Gooding plays the doctor in the movie and does a wonderful job. This is the story of a man who had a very difficult childhood with obstacles that would defeat a lot of people. He had a strong mother to guide him,(what a difference a dedicated parent makes), and as he grew he developed faith in God and perseverence to keep working hard in his studies. I recommend this movie for teens and adults.
